How to Plant Seeds of Intention
Springtime can make us all feel as if a weight has been lifted. Winter can be hard in Canada, and as you all know, it lasts longer than the season of Winter. But I want us to take the opportunity of this growing light of Spring to choose some seeds to plant. Now you could grab a hand full of miscellaneous seeds & sprinkle them here & there. Things may or may not grow & you may not even know what you planted. But the act of planting seeds in itself is needed to grow things. But what if you took the time to think about what you would like to plant? Found some earth to put it in, cultivated that soil & then carefully planted the seeds, nurtured them with water & sunlight & pulled the weeds when they started to grow.
It is the intentions we set that are the seeds we plant in our lives. We need to be present to the tending of these intentions & keep doing what we need to allow these intentions to manifest into our lives. But you may be saying, as I do often, I don’t have time to plant & tend these things, I have too many other things going on. I feel as if I am living amongst the weeds & all my effort is in the pulling out the weeds. How can I plant anything if I can’t clear the space to make room for the seeds in the first place?
Just start. Maybe it’s sitting amongst the weeds & accepting they are there & seeing they are not as strong or deep as you thought & if they are, find some tools to help you pull them. If we just take the time to make some room, find patience & perseverance then the rest will begin to fall into place.
Then, when we practice on a regular basis, the seeds we need to plant will come to us in those quiet moments between all our doing.
It takes some faith to plant a seed & believe it will grow into something. Sometimes we know it will grow, but we are afraid of it growing too big or out of control. So we choose not to plant it, just in case what comes is overwhelming. With this too our practice can help us to manage. Fear, self doubt, unrealiztic expections, these can all hold us back. But if we don’t try, in the end we will not have anything to harvest & that will be a loss. So why not try to just start tilling, planting, tending & harvesting. Spring is the perfect time to do this, as Mother Nature does it right in front of our eyes, we just have to do our part to connect us to this natural process. So stop with excuses, & just take time to do some Spring cleaning. From this open space you can see the possibility available to you.
